We have gorgeous views from almost every room in the house. Our family enjoys staying here for extended periods of time since we are able to WORK FROM HOME with our surprisingly fast internet for the remote location. **Due to the size of our home, we allow up to 6 adults and up to 10 if the rest are children.**

Neighborhood

We are in a beautiful rural wooded area on the lake. Our property is on 2 acres, but other than our one next-door neighbor, there are hundreds of undeveloped wooded acres that surround us. You will need a vehicle as you will be 10miles from town.

Guest Access

We are 10 miles from the center of town where you can get all your basic needs. Big Sandy has a local grocery store, gas station to gas up your car or boat and grab some bait, a couple of dollar stores, a few local restaurants if you don't feel cooking (local catfish and pizza are delish), and more. They have small-town local events depending on the weekend. In August, they host their widely popular Annual Duck Blind Drawing. There is parking at the top of the driveway near the house. 3 vehicles will fit comfortably, but you may be able to fit a 4th if you are creative. You can bring a small fishing boat and have space to turn around if needed.

Good to know

Hidden Shores is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom REMOTE lake house designed for relaxation, refreshment, and fun in mind. Whether you are coming to escape the hustle and bustle of life for a peaceful family retreat, or just want to get a change of scenery and work remotely while your family plays, our home away from home will suit your needs. Immerse yourself in nature with our impressive views of Kentucky Lake/Tennessee River. Watch the occasional barge go by, listen to the waves while relaxing on the deck, take a swim along the shallow shoreline, fish the day away (great fishing location), go boating with the ease of our private boat ramp (explore the ruins of the underground railroad just 2000 ft downriver), occasionally see the white-tailed deer who stop by for a drink, and birdwatch (see if you can spot the bald eagle that is nesting on our 2- wooded acres). The Drive: Get into "rest-mode" while driving along The Tennessee River Trail Scenic Byway to our shoreside retreat on Kentucky Lake. The drive is an adventure in itself as you meander through picturesque countryside and small, hometown America. Then, wind through the woods (about 5 minutes) on a semi-private gravel road to our "hidden" home along the shoreline. Other than our one next-door neighbor, we are situated on 2 wooded acres with over 1000 undeveloped acres adjacent to our property. **As common in the area, due to the hilly and windy roads, we do recommend 4 wheel drive or chains for your tires in the winter months when there is a possibility for ice. This only happens occasionally, but is a possibility(check weather conditions) ** Quick Overview: -3 bedrooms (King-Master Bedroom/Queen-Guest Room 1/Queen-Guest Room 2) -2 Full Bathrooms -Remote Work Space. Despite our remote location, we do have Wifi. We are able to successfully work remotely, and make video conference calls. The ramp is better for use of smaller boats such as kayaks and canoes as it doesn't have a very steep drop. There is also a public boat ramp just a few miles down the road. -Rec Room w/ Ping Pong, Foosball & Arcade game -Accessible Entry Ramp & Single-Floor Layout (See Accessibility Details at End of Listing) *Note:this space is not yet heated/Temp controlled, so take that into consideration during planning* -Fully Equipped Laundry Room The House: Our eat-in kitchen is stocked with the cooking essentials you need to cook your favorite meals all while you admire the view of the lake. Our dining room table is big enough to enjoy a home-cooked meal or play a family board game. The kitchen opens up to our comfortable Great Room which has plenty of natural light and views of the lake. There is no lack of seating with our cozy sofas and arms chairs, and we have enough throw blankets around to keep you all snuggled up to watch a movie on our large Smart TV. We have a fold-out couch for an optional extra bed. Walk out onto our sprawling deck from the kitchen that looks over Kentucky Lake. It has a large gas grill to cook up some burgers or make a nice steak meal. We also have a gas-powered firepit conveniently situated on the deck to enjoy late-night chats around the fire with family and friends. The Master King Suite has a luxurious king-sized bed, full private bathroom, work-from-home "office nook", large smart TV, and coffee station. There are full windows on the east side of the room with a sliding door that opens to the large deck and Adirondack seating area, the perfect place to enjoy a cozy morning coffee while you watch the sun come up over the lake. The two guest rooms have queen-sized beds with brand-new memory foam mattresses. Each closet has extra linens, a folding desk for an option for remote workers, and an extra rollaway bed (for an extra fee) The 2nd full bathroom has a one-piece tub and shower to conveniently bathe your little ones. Our rec room is located in the detached garage. It is the perfect place for keeping the kids busy while the adults want some downtime (or vice versa!). Equipped with foosball, ping pong, an arcade machine, seating areas, and even an exercise bike/elliptical machine for those who want to get in a quick workout. If you’re looking for a remote and beautiful getaway, this is the perfect spot. The home is immaculate, beautifully designed, and equipped with all the amenities you could need. Although it’s a bit off the beaten path, the journey is well worth it. As you drive along the gravel road, the landscape opens up to reveal stunning lake views. Sitting on the porch, you can relax and take in the peaceful scenery and wildlife around you—an unforgettable experience.

This stay was a peaceful and restful location and it was the perfect spot for our family. We were surrounded by nature. The breathtaking views were a cherry on top! 5 stars! We really enjoyed the local JAMS ice cream spot in town and the Turkey Creek Marina restaurant nearby (just a 15 minute boat ride). We would love to come back!

We rented this lake house for a VERY last minute family thanksgiving trip a few hours from where we live and it could not have been more perfect. Raquel was a dream to work with, the house and surroundings were absolutely breathtaking and the space was exactly what we needed. The extra roll out beds were great for the kids, and the garage rec room was a big hit as well. Adults reign supreme in ping pong AND foosball, until next time! lol everyone wished we could have stayed longer, but for the short and quick trip, we couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommend, 10/10. Thank you for the hospitality!

Secluded lake setting. An overall restful retreat in nature. The lake is your front yard! We took kids and all had a great time playing in the lake or fishing. Almost everyone caught at least one fish. The hosts have really thought of everything to make your lake trip the best! This place is a must do again ❤️

Such a little gem! Thoughtfully designed home and fantastic communication from the hosts. Highly recommend - and definitely definitely definitely take advantage of going boat cruising and fishing with Bruce and Patti the sweetest neighbors ever. So worth it - ask the host she will get you connected with them.

My friends and I had the pleasure of staying in Raquel's beautiful home on the lake. We were there between March 24th - 27th. It was a bit rainy our first evening there but cleared up and was beautiful weather. The trip was a little tricky on the drive in, but fun. Even though Raquel gave great instructions, we still missed the sign at the split that directed you to go left, through the creek, or right to by pass the creek. We went left. OOPS! Had to go through the creek in a Toyota Camry. Bruce the neighbor up on the hill, offered to cater a catfish dinner with all the fixings and the catfish was wonderful! Couldn't ask for a more private and well equipped, with all you would need @ a place to stay. The game room was great!! The freezer in the game room even had cool pops in it. (for your enjoyment). Beautiful and very clean! I would really like to say more but am running out of characters. All 6 of us, were very impressed with the accommodations! Thank you again Raquel!!

Raquel was super friendly and helpful with everything that was needed. We had bad weather, and she kept checking in on us, which I really appreciate. The house is beautiful and has an amazing view. I would definitely recommend a stay at this property.

The home was gorgeous! Everything was clean and well appointed. She thought of everything. Make-up wipes, comfy throw blankets, binoculars. We had a relaxing time just floating on the lake, kayaking and fishing. The drive to town really is 20 min, 8 of those is the driveway. If you drive a vehicle that sits up higher, it probably won't be that long. Make sure you get everything from town the first trip. We made smores on the fire every night. BRING BUG SPRAY. You are on a lake, the bugs/spiders are terrible. The steps down to the lake are very steep but as alternative you could walk down the drive. The neighbor is basically in the side yard but he kept to himself. It is quiet, private and secluded. There are no TVs in the 2nd and 3rd bedroom. So if you like to fall asleep to TV or just want to drown out the rest of the house, bring headphones. The beds are FIRM and the pillows are thick. We would stay again.

You will need a vehicle to get around as the house is 10 miles from town. There is free parking in the driveway, enough for 3 vehicles comfortably, but could manage one more if you are creative. There is enough room to bring a small fishing boat and turn around if needed.
